Upgrading BDRSuite to version 5.6 Update1

My current implementation of BDRSuite is running 5.5.0, so it’s time to upgrade! First, when you’re running BDRSuite, you need to download updates from the Vembu Portal. Once you login to the portal, click DOWNLOADS. Once there, you can select the version you want, and then download for the respective Operating System that you’re running. In my case, it’s version 5.6.0 and Windows. The portal will give you the latest version of each release. In this case, it’s version 5.6 Update 1.

Before starting the upgrade, always remember to snapshot your BDRSuite server. I always like to put the date and my name in the snapshot description. This makes it easy for someone looking at cleaning up snapshots to find me and ask me about my snapshot.

Now that I’ve downloaded the upgrade file, I find the file locally.

Once I double click, it launches a UAC (User Account Control) dialog. Click YES.

The BDRSuite Installation Wizard will launch next. Verify the version you’re installing and click NEXT.

Accept the terms of the license agreement and click NEXT.

Select the products you’ll be updating. Here, I left the SELECT ALL as default and clicked NEXT.

Verify the destination and products selected and click INSTALL.

In order to upgrade, the BDRSuite Service(s) must be stopped. Click YES to proceed.

Once finished, you can leave the open console checked, or you can uncheck it and click FINISH.
If you are going to leave it checked, wait a few minutes to give the services time to restart.

Now, you can sign into your BDRSuite Backup Server.

If I go to HELP – ABOUT, I can see I’m now running BDRSuite 5.6.0 U1.
